Tim Smith graduated as a Panther in 1979 and went on to play at Mercer University where he held records for the all-time number of hits and homeruns. Tim also occupied records for having 7 triples in a single season, along with career records with 7 doubles and 242 RBI’s. Tim played professional baseball and in his first season when drafted in 1983 by the Baltimore Orioles, Tim had a 21 game hitting streak and batted .329. It’s notable to mention that Tim’s first professional hit was a home run using DPS Hall of Famer Bill Madlock’s bat and his last professional at-bat was also a home run. Tim is a former hitting coach for the Miami Marlins, and member of the staff of two World Series Championships.
