Our next athlete is another talented shooter from Lakeview High School. Eddie Taylor is a 1980 graduate and led the school in points with 1,195 points and was Decatur’s Player of the Year his senior year. Eddie still ranks as one of the best and smoothest left-handed shooting guards to come out of DPS. He was the unanimous selection for Apollo’s All-Conference team, was a conference champion in 1979 and set a record for a single game with 36 points in the Wood River East tournament. Eddie also had success in our Turkey Tournament when he was MVP scoring 40 points in the 3rd place game vs Stephen Decatur BEFORE basketball had a 3-point line! Eddie played for the Big Blue at Millikin ranking 24th in scoring with 1,180 points in only 78 games and was a member of Millikin’s conference championship team in 1983.
