Martin emerged as a successful cross country athlete taking eighth at sectionals to make state for the Panthers and was Herald & Review’s Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Martin capped her senior year with a second-place finish in the 800 at the Class AA state track meet. She went on to run track and cross country at the University of Illinois.
